Game and Watch: December 09 ‘New Year’ Edition
It’s not been a bad time for gaming recently; between the delights of various games like Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2, Brutal Legend and some other games ending in 2 there’s been plenty to sink my teeth into, and more besides. However, thanks to the commercial powerhouse that is Modern Warfare 2 this year’s Q4 flood was actually reasonably tame, but it also means that early 2010 is looking a lot more busy than you’d normally expect.
And so as I look over the most recent ‘coming soon’ list from my favoured retailer I figure now is a good time to look ahead to 2010 and the games that are on my watch list, and the few that have already received pre-orders. As per usual some of these may not turn out to be any good, but all of them have captured my attention somehow:
- 3D Dot Game Heroes
- Ace Attorney: Miles Edgeworth Investigates
- Agent
- Alan Wake
- Alpha Protocol
- APB
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
- Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 (only just announced so probably a way off, but hells yeah)
- Bayonetta (pre-ordered)
- Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams (tempted by the LE for this one)
- BlazBlue (given how delayed any sort of Euro release is, maybe not, but we’ll see)
- BLUR
- Brink
- Crackdown 2
- Dante’s Inferno
- Darksiders
- Dead to Rights: Retribution
- Disgaea 2 Dark Hero Days (on the PSP, even though I’ve not got around to the first one yet)
- Dead Rising 2
- Fez
- Final Fantasy Agito XIII
- Final Fantasy XIII (just waiting for the LE to appear as a pre-order)
- Final Fantasy XIII: Versus
- F1 2010
- God of War III
- Gran Turismo 5 (if I don’t die of old age before it gets released)
- Halo: Reach
- Heavy Rain
- I Am Alive
- Joe Danger
- Just Cause 2
- Last Guardian
- Lost Planet 2
- Mass Effect 2 (pre-ordered the CE)
- Medal of Honor
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
- Metal Gear Solid: Rising
- Metro: 2033
- Red Dead Redemption
- Resonance of Fate (saw a new trailer for this which grabbed my attention)
- R.U.S.E.
- Spec Ops: The Line (the initial trailer looked rather interesting)
- Splinter Cell: Conviction (might consider grabbing that LE)
- Split/Second (this is pretty much a definite buy)
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
- Star Wars: The Old Republic (I don’t really like the idea of MMOs, but damn if this doesn’t have me intrigued)
- Super Street Fighter IV
- Valkyria Chronicles 2
- Yakuza 3 and 4 (if they get US or UK releases)
There’s a few on there that will be towards the end of the year, or potentially pushed back to 2011, so it’s not looking too bad for the first half of the year, though still a decent number of games arriving. Plenty to keep one occupied at any rate.
So what’s on the watch list for you guys? Anything leaping out at you from the upcoming games list?
