Game and Watch: July 09 ‘Deluge’ Edition
Having been occupying my time recently with returns to well-worn games such as Rock Band (both 1 and 2) and Burnout Paradise, as well as wasting time on Battlefield 1943, which I will try to get a review out for in the next few days, it seems I should perhaps be actually trying to make some progress with those games currently unplayed as a quick look at the coming soon lists and sorting out a few pre-orders it seems that there’s quite a number of titles bearing down on us, many of which I’m looking at picking up.
So I figure about now is perhaps a good time to take stock of those games that I currently have my eye on, and those that have already made it onto my pre-order list. As per usual some of these may not turn out to be any good, but all of them have captured my attention somehow (thankfully some of them don’t hit until 2010):
- Agent
- Alan Wake
- Alpha Protocol
- APB
- Army of Two: The 40th Day
- Assassin’s Creed 2 (I’m holding out to see if there’ll be a LE for this before pre-ordering)
- Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines (not sure about a PSP based AC, but I did love the first game)
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
- Batman: Arkham Asylum (pre-ordered the CE)
- Bayonetta
- Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams
- BlazBlue (if it ever gets a UK release that is)
- BLUR
- Brutal Legend (pre-ordered)
- Crackdown 2
- Dark Void
- Dead Rising 2
- Demon Souls (might import the US release for this one if I go for it)
- DiRT 2 (pre-ordered)
- Dissidia: Final Fantasy (pre-ordered the CE)
- DJ Hero (at the announced price they can fuck off, but I’m interested to see how this plays)
- Fat Princess
- Final Fantasy Agito XIII
- Final Fantasy XIII
- Final Fantasy XIII: Versus
- Formula 1 (still love the idea of F1 game by the GRID dudes)
- Forza Motorsport 3
- God of War III
- Gran Turismo 5 (if it ever gets released)
- GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City
- Halo 3 ODST
- Heavy Rain
- I Am Alive
- IL2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey
- Just Cause 2
- Last Guardian
- Left 4 Dead 2
- Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues
- Lego Rock Band
- LittleBigPlanet PSP
- Lost Planet 2
- MAG
- Mass Effect 2
- Modern Warfare 2 (waiting to pre-order the LE)
- Need for Speed: Shift (pre-ordered the CE)
- Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
- Picross 3D
- Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box
- Red Dead: Redemption
- Resonance of Fate (saw a new trailer for this which grabbed my attention)
- Rock Band: The Beatles (pre-ordered)
- Scribblenauts
- Splinter Cell: Conviction
- Split/Second
- Tekken 6 (maybe)
- Uncharted 2 (pre-ordered)
- Valkyria Chronicles 2 (PSP)
- WET
- WipEout HD Fury (expansion)
- Zelda: Spirit Tracks
On reflection, good lord that’s a lot of games, and I’m not entirely sure I’ve thought of everything. So yes, looking like there’s a fair amount of new games heading our way. Thankfully publishers are being a bit more cautious of putting out too much stuff in the annual Q4 flood so we’re seeing a number of games arrive over the August-October time, with a fair few seemingly heading for September. However, that’s not going to change the fact that by the end of the year there’s probably going to be a considerable number of additions to my ever-growing backlog of games.
So what are you guys excited for? What’s on your watch- and wish- lists?

I have FIFA 09 and that’ll do me for a footy game for a while. I’ve never been a fan of buying new sports games every year with their microscopic changes, so no, neither FIFA 10 or Pro Evo 2010 interest me all that much.

I’ve not seen much being said about IL-2 though, which is odd. I would have thought we’d have seen a preview or two floating around by now. I did see a cam vid from E3 which looked pretty cool though.

I’m actually excited about Scribblenauts. MORE DS LOVE, PEOPLE.

Yeah, the more I read and see of Scribblenauts I see the more excited I get. I’m thinking I might lay down a pre-order for that in the next few days as a result.
